Continuum and discrete excitation spectrum of single quantum rings

Photoluminescence and excitation of the photoluminescence spectroscopy has been performed in single InGaAs self-assembled quantum rings embedded in a field effect structure device. To determine their electronic structure, bias-dependent optical transitions have been analyzed both, for individual quantum rings, and for the averaged ensemble. Our results are compared with a theoretical model, and also with results reported by other authors studying similar nanostructures.

Nuclear Moments and Deformation Change inA184ug,mfrom Laser Spectroscopy

Resonance ionization spectroscopy (RIS) was performed on desorbed Au, and the complete hyperfine spectrum of both isomeric and ground states of the short lived 184Au nucleus has been recorded from the 5d106s S1y2 ! 5d106p P3y2 optical transition. The nuclear moments of both states and the mean square charge radius changes were measured. The magnetic moments were determined to be m 184g I­5 ­ 12.07s2dmN and m I­2 ­ 11.44s2dmN and the spectroscopic quadrupole moments to be Q 184g s ­ 14.65s26db and Q184m s ­ 11.90s16d b. A difference in the mean square charge radius dkr2 c l184g,184m ­ 20.036s3d fm2 was found. [S0031-9007(97)03992-6]

Influence effect of an external electric field and dissipative tunneling on intracenter optical transitions in quantum molecules with D2- states

In the zero-range potential model and in the effective mass approximation, dispersion equations have been obtained, that describe dependence of the average binding energies of the quasistationary g- and u-states of the D − 2 - center in the QD, as well as the widths of energy levels on the magnitude of the external electric field and the parameters of 1D-dissipative tunneling. Dips in the field dependences of the binding energies average values for quasi-stationary g- and u-states have been revealed. Emittance measurements with optical transition radiation at the S-DALINAC

Abstract A new emittance measurement system has been installed at the superconducting, recirculating electron accelerator S-DALINAC. It is based on the quadrupole-scan technique and beam profile measurements with optical transition radiation. A first demonstration of this setup has been conducted as part of the beam-based alignment of an SRF cavity. The corresponding emittance measurement is described here, and the following data evaluation is discussed.

Resonant laser ionization of polonium at rilis-isolde for the study of ground- and isomer-state properties

Three new ionization schemes for polonium have been tested with the resonant ionization laser ion source (RILIS) during the on-line production of 196Po in a UCx target at ISOLDE. The saturation of the atomic transitions has been observed and the yields of the isotope chain 193–198,200,202,204Po have been measured. Isotopic variation of parity violation in atomic ytterbium: Description of the measurement method and analysis of systematic effects

We present a detailed description of experimental studies of the parity violation effect in an isotopic chain of atomic ytterbium (Yb), whose results were reported in a recent paper [Antypas et al., Nat. Phys. 15, 120 (2019)]. We discuss the principle of these measurements, made on the Yb $6{s}^{2} {}^{1}{S}_{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}5d6s ^{3}D_{1}$ optical transition at 408 nm, describe the experimental apparatus, and give a detailed account of our studies of systematic effects in the experiment.
